The NSpine Arosa Winter Masterclass - an exceptional event

Now in its 5th year it has become established as one of the premier international case discussion forums, renown not only for the complexity of cases discussed, but also for the very open debating culture.

Course Format

Case based discussions with occasional lectures to supplement the topics.

The complexity is at expert level and covers the entire range of orthopaedic and neurosurgical spinal procedures and pathologies.

Accreditation

To date every Arosa event has received > 20 CME credits.

Weds 24th Mar 2021:
Complex Spinal Tumours and Infections

Detailed case discussions led by highly experienced presenters with increasing complexity throughout the am and pm sessions. Cases are presented with discussions ensuing on treatment options and alternatives along with natural history of the condition and potential complications arising during the course of treatment. The focus is on technical aspects of the surgery with in depth discussion on surgical steps and minimising complications. Monday will see more Tumour cases being discussed with more Infections on Tuesday whereby there will be an overlap of both on both days as part of the differential diagnosis of cases.

Detailed case discussions led by highly experienced presenters with increasing complexity throughout the am and pm sessions. Cases are presented with discussions ensuing on treatment options and alternatives along with natural history of the condition and potential complications arising during the course of treatment. The focus is on technical aspects of the surgery with in depth discussion on surgical steps and minimising complications. Wednesday will focus more strongly on trauma and Thursday more strongly on Deformity whereby there is an overlap between the topics to a degree where important for differential diagnosis.

Coronavirus Statement

NSpine Safety Precautions:

  • All participants to provide a negative test before arrival.
  • Rapid test to be carried out upon arrival at hotel.
  • The NSpine group to be grouped together throughout the stay at the hotel. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinners will be in partitioned areas.
  • Hand sanitiser is available in all areas.
  • We ask you to keep the distance of 1.5 meters at all times from other hotel guests.
  • All points of contact (door handles, lift buttons, etc.) are cleaned and disinfected with increased frequency.

    Winter Sports

    With six hours of CME accredited academic sessions, the extended lunch break from 11:30 – 16:30 offers ample time to pursue winter sports or relax in the Kulm Spa.

    Located right at the ski slopes, the Arosa Kulm Hotel & Alpin Spa is the perfect ski-in ski-out starting point. Equipment is stored at the hotel entrance ski room and you can look forward to preheated ski boots !

    Networking

    Building a strong peer network is essential in high risk professions such as spine surgery.

    Kulm is the ideal setting for academic exchange, honest case discussions and getting to know each other.

    Combining academic debate with skiing breaks is ideal and many friendships have been forged in Arosa.

    Every day is concluded with a networking dinner in one of the excellent Kulm restaurants. Partners and familes are most welcome to attend.

    Typically, the fireside discussions continue well into the night, on occasion transitioning into piano playing and song !

    How To Get There

    Although Arosa is nestled deep in the Swiss Alps, it can be reached by car from all over Europe.

    • Take the A3 to Chur and follow the signs to Arosa. Approximately 45 minutes and 361 curves later, you will reach your destination.
    • Snow chains or four-wheel drive may be required in the event of heavy snow and driving experience in winter conditions is useful.

    Alternatively leave your car in the multi-storey car park in Chur (Park & Ride, next to the train station, approx. CHF 10/day).

    Travel by Train

    Take the train from Zurich Main Station or Airport to Chur. The leisurely train journey from Chur to Arosa climbs 1,000 metres in just 26 kilometres. Feel like you’re floating on air as you pass over the elegant Langwieser Viaduct.

    Travel time from Zurich to Arosa is about three hours. The hotel shuttle will pick you up at the station.

    Helicopter transfer to Arosa is available from all national and international airports as well as from Chur.

    Delegate Terms and Conditions

    These terms and conditions apply to all payments/registrations made for NSpine events. By using the online payment facility on this website you implicitly accept these general terms and conditions.

    Liability
    In registering for any NSpine event you agree to not hold NSpine or the venue of the event responsible for personal injury or any adverse health effect including COVID infection. You are requested to obtain your own travel, health and personal injury insurance.

    Cancellation policy & refunds
    Cancellations are accepted up to 42 days prior to the event with full refund less €25 administration cost.

    No refunds can be made for cancellations received after this date. Tickets are transferable at the discretion of NSpine – please contact registrations@nspine.com.

    NSpine has agreed COVID cancellation policies with the venues and where possible will pass refunds on to delegates in case the event cannot go ahead due to COVID policies or restrictions.

    Apart from the above, participants shall not be entitled to any refund or compensation should political or economic circumstances or a case of “force majeure” outside of the control of NSpine prevent the event from being held, limit its size or modify its nature.
